On November 14, 2025, Vincent Coomans releases Pale Ghost in a Chrome Bed, the new single from his upcoming album Dark Dog (out January ’26 on Wellington Records). Where Lower Your Gun wrestled with the tension between anger, sorrow, and acceptance, Pale Ghost in a Chrome Bed turns its gaze toward the moment when there’s nothing left to say and the end becomes inevitable. Coomans captures the sight of someone fading away — and the wrenching doubt of whether to visit them one last time, knowing that image might haunt you for years.

“I don’t know how to process these images of you, pale ghost in a chrome bed, deep down we know everything has been said, ” he sings with a disarming directness that cuts straight beneath the skin. It’s the only song on Dark Dog that Coomans wrote on piano, though the instrument disappeared as soon as he brought it to the band — and the track suddenly bathed itself in a soulful, folky atmosphere instead. Everything was recorded live — in one breath, in one room — giving Pale Ghost in a Chrome Bed a rare, tactile authenticity. Nothing is hidden, sweetened, or polished; every breath, every hesitant touch remains audible. Musically, the song resonates with the soulful folk of Father John Misty, the dreamy melancholy of Destroyer, and the stark sincerity of Nick Cave. What begins as a whisper grows — through a Nels Cline–like guitar solo — into a weathered crooner, both fragile and commanding. With Pale Ghost in a Chrome Bed, Vincent Coomans reveals a new and intriguing side of himself: raw, unguarded, and achingly human.
