“I don’t know how to process these images of you, pale ghost in a chrome bed, deep down we know everything has been said, ” he sings with a disarming directness that cuts straight beneath the skin. It’s the only song on Dark Dog that Coomans wrote on piano, though the instrument disappeared as soon as he brought it to the band — and the track suddenly bathed itself in a soulful, folky atmosphere instead.
