Vincent Coomans - A Bed Can Be Many Things

'A Bed Can Be Many Things' is the first single from Vincent
Coomans’ upcoming album Dark Dog, due in January ’26.
The song was written during a turbulent period: while Vincent became a father for the first time, his own father gradually lost his language, memories and freedom of movement. Suddenly, a bed appeared in the middle of the living room in his parents' house – a strange but defining object that
fulfils several functions at once. That tension between loss and new life shines through in A Bed Can Be Many Things. It opens light-heartedly with a banjo, while a trumpet in the bridge adds an unexpected, almost misplaced
exuberance. Unlike The Great Rebuild, the album was not built up layer by layer, but recorded live. Vincent brought the new songs to Jonas Bruyneel's home studio, where the band listened to them together for the first time. Without much preparation, the musicians dove in: intuitively, everyone
added something to the music. That immediacy and freedom can be heard throughout the album and also in this song – music that breathes, that moves and in which every musician is audibly present.
